Kangana Ranaut has the knack of staying in the news. These days, not for the best reasons.

But let's not forget that even as an actress, she's had quite a few accomplishments ever since her debut with Gangster.

Joginder Tuteja takes a look at Ranaut's top 10 biggest grossers, some of which featured her in author-backed roles while others had her as a part of an ensemble cast.

Krrish 3
Box office collection: Rs 244.92 crore

She may have a lot of things to say about her relationship with Hrithik Roshan, but ironically, the biggest blockbuster of her career has been with the man himself.

In fact, the song Dil Tu Hi Bataa is one of Kangana's biggest love songs till date.

Krrish 3 featured her as a mutant and remains the biggest sci-fi thriller that Bollywood has produced till date.

Tanu Weds Manu Returns
Box office collection: Rs 152 crore

First and foremost, let's break the misconception that Tanu Weds Manu Returns is a female-centric film.

It's not.

The film's lead -- and titular -- characters are Ranaut and R Madhavan, with the former having a double role.

Directed by Aanand L Rai, it's a major blockbuster and remains very popular.

Manikarnika - The Queen of Jhansi
Box office collection: Rs 92.19 crore

A Kangana Ranaut show all the way, one has to give it to her for making sure the film was not just completed but also released like an event.

It took a good start and went on to be consistent at the box office.

Ranaut gave a good account of herself as an actress as well as a director with this period war drama.

Queen
Box office collection: Rs 61 crore

Queen made Bollywood take Ranaut more seriously, after audiences showered love on the film.

The movie took a very slow start but went on to grow from strength to strength, due to very good word of mouth.

Shootout at Wadala
Box office collection: Rs 60 crore

Ranaut played John Abraham's love interest in Sanjay Gupta's Shootout At Wadala.

A gangster drama, it featured item songs by Priyanka Chopra, Sunny Leone and Sophie Chaudhary.

Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai
Box office collection: Rs 58 crore

Though Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai was a gangster drama as well, it had a well-etched part for Ranaut.

Playing a superstar heroine from the late 1960s/early 1970s, she carried off the retro look and mannerisms quite well.

She shared a good chemistry with Ajay Devgn in this Milan Luthria directorial, which was a hit at the box office.

Double Dhamaal
Box office collection: Rs 45 crore

Dhamaal has seen three installments so far and though the first didn't have a leading lady, the second (Double Dhamaal) featured Ranaut and Mallika Sherawat as the leading ladies.

The franchise is remembered for the antics of its leading men, but this was also the time when Ranaut was picking up a lot of male-centric and multi-starrer projects.

Tanu Weds Manu
Box office collection: Rs 40 crore

Before Queen came Tanu Weds Manu and though it wasn't a massive hit, it set the stage for a sequel.

Along with R Madhavan, Ranaut did quite well in Aanand L Rai's romcom.

She managed to earn an altogether new fan base for herself.

Fashion
Box office collection: Rs 30 crore

At the beginning of her career, Ranaut did quite a few films where she played a troubled woman, let down either by men or career.

Drugs were also a common factor and she did quite well in portraying these parts.

Fashion earned her a National Award for this Madhur Bhandarkar directorial.

Raaz: The Mystery Continues
Box office collection: Rs 25 crore

A horror film and sequel to Raaz, this one featured Ranaut as a tortured soul.

This was the film where she came together with her then boyfriend, Adhyayan Suman.

The songs were hits and with Emraan Hashmi stepping into the franchise, it turned out to be a good success.
