In the first decade of the new millennium, Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif starred in as many as seven films, out of which five were hits.

But they did not work together between 2011 and 2020.

The 10-year itch will finally be broken when the pair will be seen once again in Rohit Shetty's Sooryavanshi.

Just how successful are they as a jodi? Joginder Tuteja finds out.

Humko Deewana Kar Gaye (2006)
Box office collection: Rs 14 crore

Katrina was paired opposite Akshay in her third Hindi film.

Unfortunately, it flopped at the box office despite the hit title song.

Whatever the fate of the film may have been, the audience liked their chemistry and so, they went on to do several films together.

Namastey London (2007)
Box office collection: Rs 37.29 crore

Namastey London remains a favourite Akshay-Katrina film, even though some of their other films did better business at the box office.

Over the years, this Vipul Amrutlal Shah directed film has gained a cult status due to the understated romantic chemistry between the duo, which was accentuated with hit songs.

Welcome (2007)
Box office collection: Rs 75 crore

One of their earliest hits and also their biggest success till date, Anees Bazmes's Welcome was an out and out entertainer where Akshay had to win over Katrina's brothers (Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar) in order to marry her.

Welcome made for a good family watch.

Singh Is Kinng (2008)
Box office collection: Rs 74 crore

Welcome was followed by Singh Is Kinng, directed once again by Anees Bazmee.

With quite a few hits behind her already, Katrina looked more confident and assured in her pairing with Akshay. Akki was also enjoying a good phase in his career.

The film took a huge opening and emerged as an instant superhit.

De Dana Dan (2009)
Box office collection: Rs 48.15 crore

De Dana Dan was an ensemble entertainer, co-starring Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Sameera Reddy and Neha Dhupia.

Priyadarshan's comedy did decent business, though deserved a lot more.

Blue (2009)
Box office collection: Rs 40 crore

The costliest film ever at the time of its release, Blue had taken a very good opening but sank soon after.

A big star-cast action entertainer, it had Katrina in a special appearance and she was seen largely with Zayed Khan.

Still, the film's promotion called out Akshay-Katrina as its star attractions.

Tees Maar Khan (2010)
Box office collection: Rs 68 crore

By the time Tees Maar Khan released, Akshay and Katrina were a solid 'jodi'.

Unfortunately, this was the last film where they were seen together on screen.

Director Farah Khan brought the actors together in a zany comedy that boasted of Katrina's biggest chartbuster ever, Sheila Ki Jawaani.

Rohit Shetty's action entertainer will be the first big release to arrive in 2021, post the pandemic.

Incidentally, the film's trailer was also the last to release before the lockdown.

Akshay and Katrina play a married couple, and one waits to see their sizzling chemistry in the Tip Tip Barsa Paani, reprised from Akshay's own Mohra.
