Jimmy Sheirgill and Mita Vashisht deliver fine performances in E Niwas's crime drama, observes Namrata Thakker.
Your Honour returns with its second season and this time, it is well-paced with some nuanced performances but unnecessary new characters.
Season 2 starts with Judge Bishan Khosla (Jimmy Sheirgill) killing Satnam point blank for raping his wife, who later commits suicide.
His son Abeer (Pulkit Makol), on the other hand, is behind the bars for the hit-and-run case wherein he had tried to kill Satnam, but failed.
When Bishan gets picked up by Gurjot (Gulshan Grover) and Yashpreet's (Mahie Gill) goons, he confesses his crime. Gurjot and Yashpreet promise Bishan they would keep his son alive if he plays by their rules.
Satnam's younger brother Harman (Kunj Anand), who joins forces with Gurjot and Yashpreet, agrees to the plan as well. The trio also demand a heavy ransom from Bishan for killing Satnam.
Varun Badola, who played Kashi in the first season, is dead. In the second season, his wife Indu (Richa Pollad) takes centre stage.
Another central character who died in the first season was Pandit (Yashpal Sharma).
In season 2, his brother Jagda (Zeishan Quadri) wants revenge and decides to kill judge Bishan Khosla.
For the most part, we see Khosla not just trying to keep himself and his son alive but also keeping Indu safe.
But just when you think Bishan may wiggle out of the web, Mita Vashisth enters the picture.
Though Bishan had got her suspended in the first season, Kiran Sekhon (Mita Vashisht) re-joins the police force.
It's only after her entry in the third episode that the show gets really interesting.
Overall, season 2 looks intriguing.
Unlike the first season, this one gets going from the very first episode and doesn't test your patience with a slow pace.
Gulshan Grover and Mahie Gill hardly get screen time, at least in the first five episodes, and that's disappointing. Hopefully, we'll see more of them in the remaining episodes.
Apart from these two, every other supporting cast member contributes well to the story.
But it's Jimmy Sheirgill and Mita Vashisht, who really shine.
Though Jimmy's character commits a murder despite being a judge, you still empathise with him as he feels helpless as a father.
But after a point, his acting seems too understated. His facial expressions almost never change and though it doesn't make his performance any less praiseworthy, you want him to break out of that zone and do something startling. But he doesn't and stays in his lane.
Mita Vashisht is brilliant whether it's her expressions or Punjabi twang.
The show is a good watch, especially for Jimmy Sheirgill and Mita Vashisht.
The first five episodes of Your Honour 2 are currently streaming on SonyLIV.
