The songs of this comic caper are 'visual', where you don't mind the song as long as you get to see what's happening on screen. But as a soundtrack, it lacks meat.

Masti is about three friends who are bored of their respective wives and seek alternate female companionship!
So up next is the wannabe naughty number Chori chori chhora chhori. Picturised on Oberoi and Lara Dutta (in a guest appearance), it has lines like On the roof in the rain passed off as lyrics. Innuendoes aside, the basic reason Chori chori doesn't work is because it has no repeat value.
Remember the popular slogan of the Satte Pe Satta brothers? Chain khuli ki main khuli ki chain? Take those lines, add a voice that shrieks, Masti, R D Burman-style like we heard in the title track of Jhankaar Beats, and you get a song ready to roll. They aimed for cool. They got insipid.
Then comes Dil de diya hai, the only slow and serious track of the album. Sung by Masti's music director Anand Raaj Anand, the remorseful lyrics of the song suggest the cheating men have turned new leaves.
Leaf or not, you can leave this album back on the shelf. No masti here.
