You may not have a chart-buster soundtrack in Hamari Adhuri Kahani but the songs grow on you, writes Aelina Kapoor.
The music of Hamari Adhuri Kahani isn't as heartfelt as one would have expected, but it still has enough pathos to make you give some songs in the soundtrack a repeat hearing.
When Arijit Singh's name appears in the credits for the title song Hamari Adhuri Kahani, you know what to expect from it.
Just like Teri Galliyan from Mohit Suri's Ek Villain, even Hamari Adhuri Kahani dives into the world of love where emotions run high, courtesy Rashmi Singh's sensitive lyrics. There is sadness written all over the song and still, composer Jeet Ganguly makes sure the entertainment quotient doesn't go away.
In the album, the song appears twice with Jeet bringing on his equally good rendition as well.
Up next is Mithoon's
Humnava. Now this is for a situation where lyricist Sayeed Quadri and singer
Papon make sure they convey Emraan Hashmi's emotions well for Vidya Balan, as he craves for her love. A characteristic Mithoon composition where instruments in the background are the bare minimum and the focus is on the lyrics and the singer, this song is quite nice.
As is the tradition with films coming from the house of Bhatts, yet another newcomer gets an opportunity to make his mark in the world of music. Ami Mishra sings and composes Hasi Ban Gaye confidently. Written by Kunaal Vermaa, the song is sweet and lightens up the proceedings.
When Shreya Ghoshal comes in and sings the song later, the listening pleasure is even bigger.
Jeet Ganguly keeps things simple with Yeh Kaisi Jagah, rendered by another newcomer Deepali Sathe. The song will not be a hot favourite in the ringtone circuits but it should go well with the film's narrative.
The music of Hamari Adhuri Kahani scores in consistency. Though you may not have an instant chart-buster, the songs grow on you, especially the title song.
