One ardent fan sent Varun a gift from Gujarat -- a towel with Mamta and Mauji, the characters Anushka and Varun played in Sui Dhaaga, on it.

Sharat Katariya's film is having a robust run at the box office boosted by word of mouth.

Rediff.com's Sukanya Verma was an early champion of the film, noting in her review: 'No overblown drama, no weepy speech, Sui Dhaaga's sunshine spirit and throwaway nok jhonk pervades the uncertainty and exploitation.'
