Which Malayalam film will you watch this Onam?

The Onam season is going to be delicious for Malayalam cinema!

There are as many as seven movie releases, and they all look good.

Here's a closer look at what's on offer:

 

Utopia Yile Rajavu

Director: Kamal
Cast: Mammootty, Jewel Mary

Veteran director Kamal has earlier teamed up with Mammootty in films like Mazhayethum Munpe, Azhakiya Ravanan, Raappakal and Karutha Pakshikal.

Their latest offering Utopiyale Rajavu is a social satire.

P S Rafeeque of Amen fame is the scenarist.

Jewel Mary, who was Mammootty's heroine in Pathemaari, is paired opposite the superstar.

 

Loham

Director: Ranjith
Cast: Mohanlal, Andrea Jeremiah

Mohanlal and Ranjith have made huge hits in the past.

Now, Mohanlal is being presented in his popular avatar to cater to his fans, in this thriller.

Andrea Jeremiah plays the heroine.

 

Life of Josootty

Director: Jeethu Joseph
Cast: Dileep, Jyothi Krishna

After making Malayalam's biggest hit Drishyam, and its Tamil version Papanasam, director Jeethu Joseph moves on to Life of Josootty.

Dileep and Jeethu have earlier come together in the hit film, My Boss.

Life of Josootty is about a villager, who goes to New Zealand with much hope about his life.

 

Double Barrel

Director: Lijo Jose Pellissery
Cast: Prithviraj, Arya, Indrajith, Asif Ali

Director Lijo Jose Pellissery is all set to amuse Malayali viewers with a wacky thriller titled Double Barrel, which boasts of quirky comedy.

 

Jamna Pyaari

Director: Thomas Sebastian
Cast: Kunchacko Boban, Gayathri Suresh

Kunchacko Boban plays an auto driver in Maya Bazaar director Thomas Sebastian's latest venture, Jamna Pyaari.

Beauty pageant winner Gayathri Suresh is the heroine.

 

Amar Akbar Anthony

Director: Nadirshah
Cast: Prithviraj, Jayasurya, Indrajith

Mimicry artiste-turned-filmmaker Nadirshah makes his debut with a casting coup of sorts.

Prithviraj, Jayasurya and Indrajith are the heroes in Amar Akbar Anthony, which promises to be a laugh riot.

Namita Pramod plays the heroine.

 

Rudra Simhasanam

Director: Shibu Gangadharan
Cast: Suresh Gopi, Nikki Galrani

Rudra Simhasanam has been scripted by Ananthabhadram fame Sunil Parameswaran, and has been directed by Shibu Gangadharan.

It stars Suresh Gopi, Nikki Galrani, Kaniha and Swetha Menon.
