Ilayathalapathy Vijay's Thalaivaa has finally been cleared for release in theatres in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
The film, which was originally slated to release on August 9, is set to hit the screens on August 20.
Directed by A L Vijay, this action-drama's release
was stalled after a political outfit issued threats to theatre owners, and the entertainment tax waiver issue.
Actor Vijay and producer Chandra Prakash Jain had requested the Chief Minister's intervention to secure the release of the film, but nothing materialised.
After all attempts to release the film failed, the cast and crew of
Thalaivaa planned a one-day hunger strike but they were denied permission by the city police.
Now, more than 10 days after it was released worldwide,
Thalaivaa is all set for its release.
