Vijay's major goof-up!

The latest updates from the Tamil film industry.

Vijay's speech at the audio launch function of his latest film Theri seems to have made him the butt of jokes.

The humble star took to the stage to praise the brilliant efforts of the entire team before turning philosophical. He quoted the lines of 'Russian communist leader' Mao Tse-tung encouraging his fans to set and achieve higher goals in life.

While the motivational speech was met with a thunderous response, what the actor failed to realise is that Mao was not a Russian leader, but a popular Chinese revolutionary.

Soon the social media was buzzing with news about this major goof-up by the actor.  However, within hours, Vijay issued a press release apologising for his mistake.

A fantasy comedy, the film features Kalidas Jayaram, Ashna Zaveri, Prabhu and Pooja Kumar.

Kamal is expected to make a brief appearance as a voodoo doctor in the film. Kamal, incidentally, is a friend of Malayalam actor Jayaram, father of Kalidas.

The film will be produced by Dushyanth Kumar, grandson of veteran actor Sivaji Ganesan.
