If the grapevine is to be believed, Sumit (Hussain) is set for a phased exit from Kumkum, the serial that made him a star.

After the generation leap, Kumkum was hyped as a mature love story, but somehow the show did not go as planned.

Sumit, on screen, is currently suffering from a terminal illness. Sources say that the character's death will be shown gradually. Whether this is due to some problem with Hussain or not is difficult to say and the actor refuses to take calls.

As if this was not enough, Hussain's onscreen daughter Aashka (Chahat Khanna) is also leaving Kumkum since she is getting married next month. The production house, it seems, has already launched a massive hunt for a replacement.

Remember Vinod Singh? The first Dr Ayushmaan, who was forced to leave the serial due to problems with the production house, is upset with the way TV serials are progressing. He has decided to concentrate on ad films while waiting for the right film offers.

He was busy shooting for an MRF tyre commercial when this columnist caught him on his cell phone. While Vinod has become more famous for his Close Up ad than Ayushmaan, how far that will help his big screen adventure is anybody's guess.

Tasneem Sheikh has been playing hide and seek with the viewers of Kyun
Ki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.

It's been more than six months since she tied the knot. Her husband Sameer Nerurukar is with the merchant navy and the couple get little time to spend together. Tasneem wants to make full use of her time when Sameer is home, and has decided to go slow with her work. She has not signed anything new until early next year.

"I want to be the perfect wife when Sameer is around," the actress says. "I make his favourite food, we go out for movies and drives and have a nice time. I really want to spend time with my family when Sameer is around. I make up for it by working overtime when he is sailing."

Prachi Desai (Bani in Kasamh Se) seems to be Ekta Kapoor's latest confidante.

Desai, according to the uncrowned queen of Indian television, is her second best actress after Smriti Irani. Not content at making such a statement, Ekta even took Prachi on a pilgrimage to Tirupati -- a privilege not many acquaintances of Ekta have enjoyed.

Does this trip signify a major change in the storyline of Kasamh Se? Watch this space for updates!
