Trailer: Surprise surprise, Dishoom looks like fun

Lets see if the film manages to stay as slick as the trailer, writes Raja Sen.

Ah, now this could be fun.

The ever-spontaneous Varun Dhawan looks to liven things up for the eternally wooden John Abraham in the upcoming Dishoom, a film that looks totally predictable and yet, based on this first trailer, pretty refreshing.

It’s a buddy-cop movie with a villain who kidnaps India’s top batsman, Viraj, just before an India-Pakistan final. Two cops, a sexy RAW agent and some girl in a bikini head out to find the cricketer, and that’s all you need to know.

Director Rohit Dhawan last made the cringeworthy Desi Boyz, but this film actually looks like its having fun and maybe, just maybe, will have a plot that makes some kind of goofy sense. I’m pretty sold on the idea of Akshaye Khanna, who once starred in Border, here playing a villain called Wagah — because he belongs neither to India nor Pakistan.

Best case scenario: Main Khiladi Tu Anari. Second best case scenario: Bad Boys. Either way, this looks enough like a Michael Bay movie to make Rohit Shetty envious. Lets see if the film manages to stay as slick as the trailer.

Dishoom releases on July 29.
