It looks as if first-time director Abhay Chopra has forgotten what 2017 is like, as he adapts the 1969 classic to the present time.
The trailer of Ittefaq is gripping but it seems to have its flaws.
A remake of the 1969 film, starring Rajesh Khanna and Nanda, the new film stars Sidharth Malhotra, Sonakshi Sinha and Akshaye Khanna.
But it looks as if first-time director Abhay Chopra has forgotten what 2017 is like, as he adapts the classic to the present time.
Here's why Syed Firdaus Ashraf thinks so.
*If your taxi meets with an accident, would you climb up to the first floor to ask for help?
Wouldn't you rather go to the nearest house, which would probably be on the ground floor? In the 1969 film, the protagonist enters a bungalow, not a flat.
*If a lady allows a stranger to make a phone call from her landline, won't she first ask why he doesn't use his mobile phone.
*Her husband comes late from office, and doesn't keep a pair of keys. But wouldn't your door have a peephole?

Sidharth Malhotra should stop acting. It's an ittefaq that he is an actor.
Sonakshi Sinha performs well going by the trailer but, then, she has already proved her mettle in Akira.
But it is Akshaye Khanna who steals the show, as the cop investigating a mysterious case.
Ittefaq keeps its costs low -- the shooting locations are barely three or four -- and it's a film that seems all set to make money at the box office.
Let's hope it's as good as the one we've watched and loved.
