The show started back in 1990, and two decades later Homer, Marge, Bart and Lisa have become a global phenomenon, reports Sky News.
But 20 years ago, creator Matt Groening "had no idea" the series about the dysfunctional family from Springfield would ever last this long.
'I think we lucked out at the very beginning,' he said.
'We made some shows that were good and then we kept on doing it. There doesn't seem to be any reason for it to end,' he added.
Sky1 and Sky1 HD are marking the anniversary with a series of special programmes and exclusive episodes, starting on January 11.
