The Dhoni biopic is all set to lead the charts!

Neeraj Pandey's MS Dhoni: The Untold Story has become a major success already.

The film is expected to go past the Rs 100 crore mark and will probably be the highest grossing biopic in Bollywood.

Biopics, of course, tell a successful tale in India, and that's why they're made quite regularly these days.

Here's looking at the most successful biopics in Bollywood.

MS Dhoni: The Untold Story
Box Office Collection: Rs 125 crore+ (expected)

MS Dhoni made over Rs 60 crore in its opening weekend itself and it's expected to double that.

Brand MS Dhoni has done the trick and since the legend is still playing cricket and is one of the most popular sportsman in the country today, his film will be lapped up big time.

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag
Box Office Collection: Rs 109 crore

Farhan Akhtar's Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013)with had a heady dose of sports and patriotism, was the first ever biopic to hit a century and the record stayed unbeaten for three years.

It may now be broken by the Sushant Singh Rajput film.

The Dirty Picture
Box Office Collection: Rs 80 crore

Movies that are based on the film industry have traditionally failed at the box office. But The Dirty Picture has been an exception.

Based on the life of Silk Smitha, the Milan Luthria directed film went on to do bumper business.

It is also Vidya Balan's biggest hit till date.

Neerja
Box Office Collection: Rs 75.65 crore

Sonam Kapoor made the film her own when she re-played

Neerja's tragic end.

Backed by Fox, the film was released strategically as it saw selective screens to begin with, word-of-mouth taking it through.

In contrast, Fox released MS Dhoni: The Untold Story at a much wider scale.

Mary Kom
Box Office Collection: Rs 64 crore

Would a film on a female boxer work?

More so, if it starred Priyanka Chopra, a Punjabi, playing a Manipuri girl.

It may have started as a risk but director Omung Kumar came up with a good narrative and Priyanka lived the role well. It resulted in rave reviews and a big hit.

Paan Singh Tomar
Box Office Collection: Rs 15 crore

Tigmanshu Dhulia's film on a sportsperson-turned-dacoit saw a small release.

But the Irrfan-starrer met with a very good response and the film grew from strength to strength. It emerged as a winner.

Box Office Collection: Rs 14 crore

Bandit Queen landed in controversy when it released way back in 1996.

Telling the tale of infamous dacoit Phoolan Devi, the film starred Seema Biswas in a brilliant performance.

It was a huge success at the box office.
