Taapsee Pannu will play a cop for the first time in director Arshad Syed’s Woh Ladki Hai Kahan.
The actress, who was last seen in the sports film Rashmi Rocket, describes her new film as a "dramedy".
"It’s a mix of comedy and drama," she tells Subhash K Jha.
"I am playing an IPS officer for the first time. I have passed on so many scripts where I’ve been asked to play a cop because I didn’t want to choose a regular story and what’s expected out of a cop in that story.”
The actress, who is known to cover new ground with every part, adds, “This will also show you the more human side of a cop, not just her professional side.”
She’s also excited about co-star Pratik Gandhi’s role in the film.
“He has a tailor-made role.
"This is the kind of comedy I would love to watch with my friends and family.
"It's one of those scripts I instantly said yes to after the first narration, which happened on Zoom during the first lockdown.”
