Gone With The Wind approaches a landmark birthday.
Take this quiz and celebrate the movie classic.
It has been 80 years since Vivien Leigh, on light feet, showing off her 17-inch waist, traipsed across the silver screen as the vivacious but stunning Scarlett O'Hara.
The classic American Civil War romance Gone with the Wind, one of Hollywood's legendary hits, was released in 1939.
Filming was delayed by two years while Producer David O Selznick looked for an actress to play Scarlett O'Hara and for Clark Gable to be free to play Rhett Butler.
The wait was well worth it.
Eight decades later, Leigh and Gable's on-screen chemistry makes their scenes sizzle.
Based on Margaret Mitchell's 1,037 page novel, of which some 30 million copies have been printed till date, Sidney Howard did a masterful job adapting this all-time favourite (the second most popular book in America in 2014 after the Bible) into a screenplay.
Gone With The Wind has, since 1939, mopped up $3 billion in tickets worldwide, according to figures adjusted for inflation quoted in a 2014 New York Post article, more than Star Wars, even in an age when many a viewer would have mixed feelings about its sugar-coated portrayal of slavery and its celebration of the Ante-Bellum American south.
Gone With The Wind made a theatrical return in its 80th year when it was screened in theatres in America on February 28 and March 3.
Let's hope theatres in India show Gone With The Wind on this milestone anniversary and millennials get a chance to see the epic on the big screen.
