After Big B with Mammootty and Sagar Alias Jacky Reloaded with Mohanlal, director Amal Neerad has announced his next venture, Anwar, with Prithviraj in the lead.

The film will also star National Award-winning Tamil actor Prakash Raj and actor/producer/director Lal, in key roles. Mamta Mohandas is the heroine.

The launch of the film was held at a grand ceremony in Kochi, which was attended by the cast and crew of the movie.

The director revealed that though the film is based on terrorism, it will be different from the other films in the genre.

Prithviraj, who has hailed as a superstar after the success of Puthiya Mugham last year, will shoot for the movie after completing Dr Biju's Veettilekkulla Vazhi and Vysakh's Pokkiri Raja with Mammootty.

Prakash Raj, who was earlier seen in Malayalam in Pandippada with Dileep, said that Anwar has a great script that he just couldn't refuse.

Mamta Mohandas, who was last seen in Passenger as a heroine in a high profile Malayalam film, is also doing Sathyan Anthikkad's new project with Jayaram. She was paired opposite Bala in Big B earlier.

Lal, who is busy with the post-production works of In Ghost House Inn, said that Amal offered him a role that was an absolutely challenging one for any actor.

According to Amal, with two directors -- Prakash Raj and Lal -- and a budding director (Prithviraj) in the cast, things will be even better this time around.

The shooting of Anwar is planned for February with the release slated sometime in July.
