Shwetha Menon's delivery scene in Kalimannu stays, film set to release
August 16, 2013 15:12 IST
Controversial Malayalam film Kalimannu, which faced protests for including the real delivery scene of actress Shwetha Menon, will release on August 23.
The film has been directed by Blessy, and co-stars Biju Menon.
Five members of the Censor board -- all women -- viewed the film, after which it was certified in the U/A
category. Exhibitors had earlier demanded that the delivery scene be chopped from the film.
Blessy described the film as a tribute to motherhood, but many people, including Assembly Speaker G Karthikeyan, had voiced their opinion against the film.
The matter had reached Kerala High Court but a division bench refused to intervene, saying the actress had consented to the shooting of her delivery and there was no violation of her fundamental right.
