Actor Shammi Kapoor, who was admitted to Mumbai's Breach Candy hospital on July 7 for a severe lung infection, was discharged on Friday.
"He was to be discharged only next week. But the doctor said he would be happy at home and took a sudden decision to send him home yesterday," she added.
For the past week, Kapoor has been lodged in an extension of the hospital's Intensive Care Unit. He had a room to himself with a television. Family members were allowed to meet him occasionally, she said.
"We have made a similar arrangement like (the one in hospital) at home," she continued. "He is happy to be back home. He is fully shaven, looks better and is improving with medication."
