Sanjay Dutt will take centrestage in an emotional father-daughter film inspired by Rabindranath Tagore's immortal story Kabuliwala.

It will be produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra.

The duo have worked together before -- in Chopra’s directorial ventures, Mission: Kashmir and Eklavya, and his productions, the Munnabhai series.

Chopra has not directed a film since Eklavya in 2007.

"It’s a very emotional father-daughter story with shades of Sanjay Dutt’s own relationship with his daughter Trishala. Vinod Chopra wants to tell this story as a homage to the emotional side of Dutt’s personality," says a source.

Interestingly, the role of the Kabuliwala has been immortalized by Balraj Sahni in the 1961 film of the same name, directed by Hemen Gupta.
