Salman Khan is going all out to see that star kids Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty are launched with much fanfare in his production, Hero.
All the composers on board -- Amaal Mallik, Jassi Katyal, Meet Bros Anjjan and Sachin-Jigar -- as well as lyricists Kumaar and Niranjan Iyenger have tried to make a soundtrack for a youth audience.
Well, the team has got it right.
Salman himself sings Main Hoon Hero Tera, a soothing melody. Kumaar's lyrics are simple, and the song instantly wants to make you sing for a loved one.
A chartbuster all the way, it gets a deserving repeat with Armaan Malik on board as singer.
Yadaan Teriyaan, written by Kumaar, is sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. Newcomer composer Jassi Katyal impresses big time with this musical piece, and even more so when he gets Shipra Goyal on board along with Dev Negi for a 'reprised' version. Beautiful!
The lyrics of Kumaar's Dance Ke Legend will not impress you. But a dance number is a must for every soundtrack, and Meet Bros Anjjan do the needful. This song grows on you, and will hook you after a few listens.
The women in the song, Bhoomi Trivedi and Sunaina Singh, make an appearance a little later in the proceedings and are quite good.
Composers Sachin-Jigar make a belated appearance and instantly leave a mark. They deliver with the poetic number, Khoya Khoya, written by Niranjan Iyenger.
The melody is on the lines of Rabba Rabba (Heropanti) which was also sung by Mohit Chauhan. But beyond this similarity, the song -- with Arpita Chakraborty and Tanishka Sanghvi contributing as well -- keeps its hold.
Amaal Mallik returns on the scene with the melodious O Khuda. Written by Kumaar, this song has Amaal pair up with Palak Muchchal. There is a lovelorn feel right through the five-minute number, as the protagonists seem to be wondering if they did something really wrong in falling in love. O Khuda is an ideal follow up to Khoya Khoya.
The last song Jab We Met has been composed by Sachin-Jigar with lyrics by Niranjan Iyenger. Though the Hinglish number tries to bring on the fun, it does not match the other more impressive songs in the soundtrack.
In the times when good music is hard to come by, the Hero soundtrack comes as a whiff of fresh air. The musical team makes sure that you give most of the songs a repeat hearing.
