It’s not just his hair that will go for his role in Bajirao Mastani

Ranveer Singh will also have to let go of his six pack abs to look like an 18th century Maratha warrior.

"As Bajirao, Ranveer will have to go bare-chested in many scenes, and it will be a full physical deconstruction for Ranveer," says a source close to the project. "The character is set in the 18th century, when there were no gym-built bodies. Sanjay Leela Bhansali can’t have a Maratha king with six packs."

One would recall that Hrithik Roshan and Farhan Akhtar played Emperor Akbar and athlete Milkha Singh with their gym-trained six-pack bodies, a cinematic liberty that did not go unnoticed by critics.

Bhansali won’t take any risks with facts and history.

“He isn’t asking Ranveer to go flabby," the source says. "Bajirao was a king and a warrior. He has to look physically fit but not in a physically trained manner. He would have to lose his hair and his 6-pack look."
