The film, which has been subjected to a two-week ban in Tamil Nadu, was released in more than 80 theatres in Kerala.
According to police, about a dozen protesters were arrested and removed from the premises of a theatre in Chittur town in Palakkad district.
The film was also been screened in around eight theatres in the same district, which borders with Tamil Nadu, without any disruption.
