Deepika Padukone makes Padmavati look even more beautiful.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali has treated us to the first song from his magnum opus, Padmavati.

Titled Ghoomar, it shows Deepika Padukone twirling under the tutelage of renowned Ghoomar expert Jyothi D Tommaar, assistant director at the Gangaur Ghoomar Dance Academy in Mumbai.

Choreographed by Kruti Mahesh Midya -- a Dance India Dance Season 2 contestant who later worked as a choreographer in other dance-based television shows -- and sung by Shreya Ghoshal, the music has been composed by Bhansali himself.

A traditional Rajasthani dance form, it is performed by veiled women who twirl around in circles, leaving onlookers mesmerised.

Apparently, Dips -- who was dressed in an extravagant costume accessorised with heavy jewellery -- did over 66 twirls while shooting for the song.

'The Ghoomar song has been one of the most difficult song sequences that Sanjay Sir and I have shot for,' Deepika says.

'I had started preparing for this film and character several months before we actually began filming. But it was for the Ghoomar song that I walked on to the set as Padmavati for the very first time.'

Take a look at the pictures from the gorgeous song, which also features Deepika's onscreen husband, Shahid Kapoor.
