The concert, organised by the National Association of Broadcasters and the Daniel Pearl Foundation, marks the Daniel Pearl Music Day an international network of concerts scheduled from October 8 through 17. Pearl's birthday falls on October 10.
During last year's second annual Daniel Pearl Music Day, 230 concerts in 29 countries were dedicated to Pearl's belief that music can transcend cultural differences. This year, with the message 'Harmony for Humanity', the Foundation will focus on increasing youth participation.
Elton John, a concert committee member, has dedicated his song Daniel
'It was his belief in music as a universal language that inspired us to commemorate his legacy in this way,' said Judea Pearl, the late journalist's father and president of the Daniel Pearl Foundation. 'Of all the bridge-building programmes the Foundation is involved in, I believe Music Day is the one Danny would most enjoy.'
Pearl was a classically trained violinist and mandolin player.
