While Hero, introducing Sooraj Pancholi and Aathiya Shetty releases on September 11, Imran Khan and Kangna Ranaut starrer Katti Batti opens the following Friday.
Is one film going to affect the other one adversely?
Advani shrugs helplessly.
“It’s not as if I planned to have two releases in a week. Hero would have been released much earlier.
“But it got delayed for various reasons. Meanwhile I started Katti Batti which was finished without delays. So it’s just a coincidence that the two films are coming almost together.”
He adds that there is no insecurity about the two films releasing so close to each other.
“I don’t think audiences are going to check the director’s name in the credits before deciding they want to see one or both the films.
“Hero and Katti Batti are very different films. And if my memory serves me right, David Dhawan had two releases on the same Friday once (Mr & Mrs Khiladi and Deewana Mastana),” the director reasons.
When asked about his favourite of the two, he says, “What makes Hero unique for me is that this is the first time I am making a film to launch two newcomers. And it feels like a big responsibility.”
