India's opening batsman of the 1980s and popular match commentator Krishnamachari Srikkanth is now trying his luck in the movies.

He will be seen in a Tamil film Priyamna Thoji.

Several cricketers have tried their hand at films, but none has made an impression -- Vinod Kambli (Anarth), Sunil Gavaskar (Maalamal), Salim Durrani (Charitra), Sandip Patil (Kabhi Ajnabee The) and Salil Ankola (Kurukshetra, Chura Liya Hai Tumne). Even wicket-keeper Syed Kirmani, who made a guest appearance in Kabhi Ajnabee The, failed to impress.

Ajay Jadeja is also making a tryst with Bollywood. He will be seen in Suniel Shetty's debut home production Khel (Sunny Deol, Suniel Shetty, Celina Jaitley).

Bhagyashree turns producer

Maine Pyaar Kiya's Suman, Bhagyashree, makes her foray in film production.

Her production company Shristhi Entertainment will make a film for the Sahara television channel. Rishi Kapoor will play a principal character. The rest of the cast has not been finalised.

The yet-untitled project will be directed by Raj Sippy (Satte Pe Satta).

Jackie-Madhu's kissathon

Kissing seems to be the new Bollywood mantra to pull crowds to cinema halls.

After Amit Saxena's Jism (John Abraham, Bipasha Basu) and Govind Menon's Khwahish (Himanshu Malik, Mallika Sherawat), intimate kissing scenes appear to be gaining acceptance.

Now, Jackie Shroff and Madhu Sapre will indulge in a nearly ten-minute kissing scene in Kaizad Gustad's Boom! co-starring Jaaved Jaaferi, Gulshan Grover, Bo Derek, Padma Lakshmi, Katrina Kaif and Zeenat Aman.

Recently there were some rumours about Shroff accepting a Bengali film. The actor, however, denies it, "I am not doing the Bengali film. I cannot name the producer concerned, as it will force him to answer a spate of calls from the media. He wanted to start shooting in the next 10 days and I needed about two months to get a firm grip on the language."

Jackie has never worked in a regional language film. His upcoming films include Nagesh Kukunoor's 3 Deewarein (Juhi Chawla), where he plays a poet sentenced for killing his wife; Bangalore-based Asma's Nayni; Shashi Ranjan's directorial debut with Raveena Tandon, and his next production venture Nagrik, for which Adnan Sami is likely to score the music.
