The MTV Video Music Awards nominations are out.

Rap star Jay-Z leads the bandwagon with a cool six nominations for 99 Problems, reports People magazine.

Jay's girlfriend Beyonce isn't far behind either with 'five nominations' for Naughty Girl and Me, Myself and I.

Ditto for No Doubt, OutKast and Usher.

Britney Spears has been nominated in four categories as has Kanye West, The White Stripes, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Steriogram.

The award ceremony will be telecast live from Miami, Florida, on August 29, which is a first, considering that all the earlier functions took place in New York or Los Angeles.

The report also mentions that instead of the traditional 'stretch limos', stars will arrive on a 'red carpet in boats'.

Usher, Kanye West, Jessica Simpson, Hoobastank, Yellowcard are some of the artistes expected to perform at the awards.
