MS Dhoni teaser: Sushant shows us a Dhoni we've never seen

Sushant looks great in character, thoughtful, sharp and focused even in this teensy glimpse, notes Raja Sen.

Mahender Singh Dhoni only brought out the helicopter shot when India most needed it -- and so it isn't what you're going to see in the highly intriguing teaser for Neeraj Pandey's MS Dhoni.

Instead, what we do see, is Sushant Singh Rajput working as a ticket collector on the South Eastern railway.

He's given his starting orders and the man sincerely steps to it, making his way amid a sea of people on a crowded station.

This, let's be honest, is a bit of a surprise.

One expected more of the fanfare, more of the (many) Dhoni moments that are already enshrined in the collective imagination.

And yet this start -- giving us a glimpse of the modest beginnings we have only heard and read about, never seen -- is a lot more intriguing.

The teaser ends with the voice of an exhilarated commentator going on about the already iconic cricketer at his absolute peak, but for now we have no visual of Rajput in cricketing gear to accompany that.

It's good to see a restrained approach taken by this film (at least in the opening overs) and Rajput looks great in character, thoughtful, sharp and focused even in this teensy glimpse.

As for that helicopter shot, like with all things legendary, we must wait for it.

MS Dhoni The Untold Story hits theatres on September 2, 2016.
