Several films are lined up for an OTT release, thanks to the lockdown.
But the year's biggest films refuse to bend yet.
They, in fact, warrant only a big screen watch.
These are the big budget films that have been designed either as a spectacle or just for the masses, hence warranting a large segment of audiences coming together to enjoy the experience in theatres.
Joginder Tuteja points them out:
Sooryavanshi
Who would want to miss Akshay Kumar stepping into the Rohit Shetty cop world of Sooryavanshi along with Ajay Devgn's Singham and Ranveer Singh's Simmba?
The film was just a few weeks away from release when the theatres shut down.
According to reports, the film will see a Diwali release.
Radhe
A Salman Khan film is always special and this one was meant to be an Eid extravaganza.
Now, Radhe may be looking at a 2021 release.
Just a few days of the film's shoot is pending and Salman is going ahead by booking studios for its completion.
'83
Based on Indian cricket's crowning glory when skipper Kapil Dev's team brought the World Cup home for the first time, '83 is special for so many reasons.
For starters, Ranveer Singh leads the show, with wife Deepika Padukone joining him for the first time after their wedding.
A sports saga is always meant for big screen viewing and Reliance along with Sajid Nadiadwala want to bring this Kabir Khan directorial to theatres at Christmas.
Coolie No 1
David Dhawan's movies are meant to be enjoyed in theatres.
This is what made his Coolie No 1 with Govinda so special.
David has remade the film with son Varun Dhawan, and the entertainment promises to be dhamakedaar!
Mumbai Saga
When it comes to a Sanjay Gupta film, one expects a larger-than-life affair.
In Mumbai Saga, he picks the retro world of the '70s and '80s along with a cast of John Abraham, Emraan Hashmi, Suniel Shetty and Jackie Shroff.
The dialoguebaazi expected in the film warrants a big screen watch.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2
When Akshay Kumar collaborated with Priyadarshan for Bhool Bhulaiyaa, the scares were the best in theatres. The laughs, too.
Expect a similar world in Anees Bazmee's Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 where Kartik Aaryan takes over.
Attack
When John Abraham designed his action affair Attack, it was probably thought of starting an exciting franchise.
Directed by first-timer Lakshya Raj Anand, the actor has planned never-seen-before action on the big screen.
Gangubai Kathiawadi
A Sanjay Leela Bhansali film is special and though Gangubai Kathiawadi is not a costume drama, his movies are unique indeed.
No wonder, he wouldn't want to compromise the viewing experience by choosing the OTT route.
Brahmastra
Brahmastra was meant to be a spectacle.
The film's release has been pushed quite a few times, but its VFX is rumoured to be well worth it.
Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan and Nagarjuna, Director Ayan Mukerji and Producer Karan Johar's biggie totally deserves its big screen arrival.
Jersey
Last year, Shahid Kapoor delivered a surprise blockbuster in Kabir Singh.
With Jersey, he hopes to hit the ball out of the park again.
Audiences would be happy to wait for it to arrive in theatres.
Shamshera
Ranbir Kapoor's Shamshera, a dacoit drama, deserves to be seen in theatres.
Sanjay Dutt is also part of the cast in Karan Malhotra's film.
