It is one of those ironies of our social media era that Saba Azad is being noticed only after she was spotted on a date with Hrithik Roshan. The two were photographed leaving the restaurant holding hands.

But Saba Azad's claim to fame goes much further than her current association with Duggu Roshan.

She is the late activist Safdar Hashmi's niece.

Saba herself has spent many years doing serious theatre. She is also trained in several Indian and international dance forms.

A veteran theatre-film actress describes Saba as 'over-qualified' for mainstream Hindi cinema.

She made her acting debut in 2008 with the film Dil Kabaddi. She has also starred in Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge and the 2021 Netflix film, Feels Like Ishq.

Saba was in a relationship with Naseeruddin Shah's elder son Imaad and the two have formed a music band called Madboy Mink.

About the speculation regarding her relationship with Hrithik, a source close to the Roshans tells Subhash K Jha, it is too early to comment.

"Duggu and Saba like each other's company, but they've barely met two-three times. To call it a relationship would be premature. Duggu has not been in one since his marriage to Sussanne ended. He had decided that if and when he does get into another relationship, it will not be frivolous and his sons would have to approve."
