Kirsten Dunst splits with Jake Gyllenhaal

Just days before the Indian release of one of her most successful films, Kirsten Dunst has split with boyfriend actor Jake Gyllenhaal.

The reasons for the break-up have not been announced.

Dunst, who plays Mary Jane Watson in the Spider-Man series, was introduced to Gyllenhaal through his sister, Maggie, also a Hollywood actress.

According to People magazine, the couple had been dating since September 2002 and  shared a $1.7 million home in Los Angeles.

Gyllenhaal was last seen in The Day After Tomorrow.

Spider-Man 2, starring Tobey Maguire and Dunst, will release in India on July 23.
