Which film are YOU really looking forward to?

Tamil cinema has some exciting releases this Diwali, as Kamal Haasan and Ajith come face-to-face at the marquee.

Thoongavanam and Vedalam have been the talk of the town for over a month now, and expectations have reached fever pitch.

The stylish Thoongavanam trailer met with wide appreciation, while Ajith wowed his fans in the stunning 45-second teaser of Vedalam.

Here's what you can expect:

Thoongavanam

Director Rajesh M Selva is a long-time associate of Kamal Haasan, and has worked with the actor in films like Vishwaroopam and Uttama Villain.

His film Thoongavanam  is an adaptation of Frederic Jardin's successful French film, Sleepless Night.

Thoongavanam also stars Trisha, Prakash Raj, Kishore and Asha Sarath. Sarath was seen with Kamal recently in the Drishyam remake Papanasam.

Kamal plays a revenue officer with the Narcotics Control Bureau called CK Dhiwakar, and Trisha plays a police officer.

Kamal has produced the film himself under the banner, Raaj Kamal Films, in association with Sri Gokulam Movies.

This will be music composer Ghibran’s fourth consecutive film with Kamal.

The film was simultaneously shot in Telugu and will be released as Cheekati Rajyam.

Vedalam

Vedalam is Ajith and Siruthai Siva’s second outing together. Their previous film Veeram released during Pongal last year, and was a huge success.

The intriguing title and incredible teaser has given rise to a lot of speculation about the plot of the film.

Actress Lakshmi Menon has been roped in to play Ajith’s sister and is believed to have a crucial role in the film.

Shruti Haasan has been cast opposite Ajith, supported by a host of comedy actors -- Thambi Ramaiah, Soori, Mayilswamy and Kovai Sarala.

Music by Anirudh Ravichander has already created a sensation, especially the peppy folk dance number, Aaluma Doluma.

The film is expected to be an action-packed mass entertainer.
