Directed by Binoy Gandhi, the film will co-star Duttas’ family-friend Nafisa Ali’s son Ajit Sodhi. It will be produced by JP Dutta.
Gandhi had assisted director Kunal Kohli earlier, and made a 45-minute feature film called Ishq Holiday.
Dutta can now start on his next film, a sequel to the 1997 blockbuster Border.
Border 2 will be based on the 1962 Indo-China war and will tell the story of Subedar Joginder Singh Sahnan.
The last film that J P Dutta directed was the 2006 Abhishek-Aishwarya Bachchan starrer Umrao Jaan.
Dutta will return to direction after nine years and he claims he feels disoriented.
“But this is not the first time I took a break. At the start of my directorial career, I lost my mother and two of my projects Sarhad and Ghulami were stalled because I could not bring myself to shoot without my mother. Again now after my father (writer O P Dutta who did all the dialogues of JP’s films) died, I felt bereft and aimless. I didn’t feel like making another film. Now that my daughter’s film is ready, it’s time to move on.," Dutta says.
