The 71st Venice Film Festival commenced with a screening of Edward Norton, Michael Keaton and Emma Stone starrer Birdman on August 27.
And it had a very unusual guest.
Acclaimed Indian-American author Jhumpa Lahiri turned heads in her stunning Alberta Ferretti gown, as she arrived for the film's premiere.
The Namesake author is a part of the In Competition jury at the festival.
Here's looking at her pictures on the red carpet.
She may be a highly regarded writer and winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction (in 2003, for her book of short stories titled Interpreter of Maladies), but... that pose!
Lahiri was joined by her journalist husband Alberto Vourvoulias-Bush -- she now resides with him and their two kids in Rome, Italy.
Earlier in the day, the gorgeous writer arrived to attend the International Jury photocall.
