Irrfan's next inspired by Kejriwal's aam aadmi movement

After Salman Khan, it's Irrfan Khan's turn to play the common man on the big screen.

Directed by Nishikant Kamat (of Force fame), Irrfan's film is apparently inspired by Arvind Kejriwal's aam aadmi movement, and will be about a common man's fight against corruption.

Kamat was earlier slated to do a film called Rocky Handsome with John Abraham but the dates clashed with John's other film, Welcome Back, so the project has to be kept on hold for a bit.

"When John was unable to shoot with me, I was at loose ends," says Kamat. "Then everything fell into place. I had this script for two years and wanted to make with Irrfan. Coincidentally, Irrfan was on the look-out for a film that would interest him. I guess this project was destined to happen.”

The untitled Irrfan-starrer will be completed by March and Nishkant will start shooting for Rocky Handsome on March 15.

Says the director, “The Irrfan film is very much in the realistic space that I attempted in Dombivali Fast and Mumbai Meri Jaan. It’s gritty and song-less, quite a culture shock for me after completing the Marathi film Lal Bhaari, which is in the Rowdy Rathod space and has six songs.”

So the year will see three releases from Nishikant Kamat. "I may disappear for three years after that,” he says, signing off.
