Will you see Sahiba in this season of Indian Idol?
Sometimes, second chances fall into your lap. More often, though, you have to create that second chance for yourself. By trying again. By not giving up.
Sabiha, who has been waiting in a seemingly never-ending queue at the Indian Idol auditions in Mumbai, is hoping to earn that second chance.
A chance that could take her towards her dream of becoming a successful playback singer -- the next Neha Kakkar maybe? Incidentally, though Neha didn't fare well in her season, participating in the show provided her with the opening she was looking for.
Sabiha, a model who hails from Orissa, has been interested in singing since childhood.
And, in a country as vast as India, with a singer on almost every street, she hopes Indian Idol -- if she clears the audition round -- will help her stand out from the crowd.
This, Sabiha confesses, is her second attempt.
"I was very young when I had come to audition for Indian Idol the first time around. I wasn't selected because of my age.
"Anu (Malik) sir, Sunidhi (Chauhan) ma'am and Salim (Merchant of Salim-Sulaiman fame) sir had told me then to come back when I grew up. So here I am!" she smiles.
And sings, this time just for Rediff.com's viewers.
