Meet the Class of 2016.
2016 is going to be one of those rare years when the film industry will see more female debutantes than male.
Here's a quick look:
Harshvardhan Kapoor and Saiyami Kher, Mirzya
Release date: May 13
We caught a glimpse of Harshvardhan Kapoor and Saiyami Kher in the first look of Mirzya, and it all looks very classy.
Harshvardhan is set to follow his famous father Anil Kapoor's steps while Tanvi Azmi's niece Saiyami is ready to sizzle.
Mahira Khan, Raees
Release date: July 3
She first made an impression in India with her powerful act in the Pakistani film Bol. Though she didn't sign up a Hindi film immediately, her stint with Pakistani cinema continued, most recently with Bin Roye.
Her first Bollywood project will be Raees, opposite none other than Shah Rukh Khan.
Pooja Hegde, Mohenjo Daro
Release date: August 12
There's much mystery about Ashutosh Gowariker's Mohenjo Daro; the period film is being shot very discreetly. One wonders what Pooja Hegde's character is going to be like, as she co-stars opposite Hrithik Roshan.
But it's certainly a dream debut for the former beauty pageant winner.
Ritika Singh, Saala Khadoos
Release date: January 29
2016's first debutante Ritika Singh will be seen in a non-filmi avatar in Saala Khadoos. She steps in as a boxer, and will probably look quite comfortable in it, as she is a national level kick-boxer. She's also an expert in mixed martial arts and a black belt in karate.
Okay then!
R Madhavan plays her coach in the film.
Navneet Kaur, Loveshhuda
Release date: February 5
A former beauty pageant winner, Navneet Kaur is set to have an eventful year starting with Loveshhuda.
She will have Girish Kumar as her co-star.
Prakash Jha, Jai Gangaajal
Release date: March 4
After directing hard-hitting movies, Prakash Jha will now feature in one!
Jha will make his acting debut in his directorial venture Jai Gangaajal, which headlines Priyanka Chopra.
Jha, who has been in the industry for over three decades, plays a cop, who takes a U-turn from being corrupt to an idealist.
Kriti Kharbanda, Raaz Rebooted
Release date: June 3
She isn't new to the world of films, courtesy her southern stint, where she has done almost 20 films.
Kriti Kharbanda makes her Bollywood debut with its most successful horror franchise, with Raaz Rebooted.
Diljit Dosanjh, Udta Punjab
Release date: June 17
A superstar in Punjab, Diljit is a known name in northern India, especially Delhi, Punjab and Haryana. Now, it's time for his big Bollywood debut, with Udta Punjab.
The film also stars Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt but it's Kareena Kapoor Khan who will be opposite him.
Sayesha Saigal, Shivaay
Release date, Diwali 2016
Ajay Devgn will launch Sayesha Saigal in his directorial venture Shivaay.
Sayesha, who recently worked in a southern film, is Dilip Kumar's grandniece.
Fatima Sana Sheikh and Sanya Malhotra, Dangal
Release date: December 23
Aamir Khan will launch Fatima Sana Sheikh and Sanya Malhotra in Dangal; they will play his daughters.
Dangal is a real-life story about the girls, who are taught wrestling by their father. Geeta Phogat went on to become India's first female wrestler to win gold at the 2010 Commonwealth Games while her sister Babita Kumari won the silver.
