Brilliant dialogue writers Sajid-Farhad (who have worked in the Golmaal series and Bol Bachchan among others) are all set to turn directors with a film featuring Akshay Kumar and Tamannah.

The shooting will start on July 1, and the film will be produced by Tips.

“We are known for our comic writing in the Golmaal series, Houseful and now David Dhawan’s Chashme Buddoor. So there will be a large dose of humour in our film," says Sajid. "But our directorial venture will also have emotion. We will make the audiences laugh as well as cry.”

The brothers -- Sajid is older than Farhad by seven years -- discovered their writing skills by accident.

“We used to live in Mumbai with our parents," says Sajid. "Then all of us moved to Bengaluru where I saw some of my brother Farhad’s writing. I could see he had a special talent which we could apply to  movies. So we relocated to Mumbai and began our journey as  lyricists, then dialogue writers, then screenplay writers and now finally, as co-directors.”

Sajid says he owes the duo’s first major break as a lyricist to Salman Khan. “He’s not our blood relative, nor did he know us. Yet, he backed our talent and believed in us. Through Salman’s good offices, we got out first big song Munna mobile pappu pager in David Dhawan’s Hum Kissise Kam Nahin.”

The film was to star Salman Khan and Sajid-Farhad’s song was to be filmed on Salman. “But look at destiny. Salman left the film and the song was shot on Sanjay Dutt," Sajid says.

The writer-director duo admits that the script for their directorial debut is something they had kept aside for a very long time.

Here's wishing Sajid-Farhad all the best.
