Tamil 'superstar' Rajinikanth's next venture -- produced by his son-in-law and actor Dhanush's Wunderbar Films Pvt. LTD. -- has been titled Kaala Karikalan.
The film is touted to be the sequel of Rajinikanth's 2016 gangster movie Kabali, a release said.
And Kabali director Pa Ranjith is returning to helm it.
The film had earlier courted controversy with the adopted son of Mumbai don late Haji Mastan, who had alleged that the plot was based on his father's life. The makers had, however, denied it.
Actress Anjali Patil of Finding Fanny fame has been signed for the film. She tweeted, "Next film for this year. With THE ONE AND ONLY. Thalaiva. Produced by @dhanushkraja Directed by @beemji #Rajnikanth #Superstar #Kaala."
Santhosh Narayanan is composing the tunes for the film, which is being made in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu.
