After working with Irrfan in Jazbaa, she will be seen opposite Fawad Khan in her next film, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
In this contemporized version of writer Sagar Sarhadi’s film Doosra Aadmi, Aishwarya will step into the role of a woman who has lost her beloved and sees his reflection in a much younger man whom she meets many years after the tragedy.
In the 1977 film, directed by Ramesh Talwar, the husband was played by Shashi Kapoor while the younger man was played by Rishi Kapoor. Neetu Kapoor played Rishi's girlfriend.
Now, in Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Fawad will play the older man while Ranbir will take on his father's role. Anushka Sharma will play Ranbir’s lover.
"It is a very interesting role, and my first with Karan Johar," says Aishwarya. "We’ve come THIS close to working together so many times in the past. This time I had to say yes. It is not a conventional romantic lead. Just wait and watch."
