The Aamir Khan-starrer Fanaa has been withdrawn from a theatre in Jamnagar -- the only cinema hall showing the movie in Gujarat -- following a self-immolation bid.

According to Vimal Madam, owner of Ambar theatre, Yash Raj Films has requested that the cinema stop screening the film. Ambar's manager Mansur Sheikh says Yash Raj representatives called from Mumbai asking them to stop screening the movie immediately.

The Fanaa Controversy

Meanwhile, the condition of 30-year old Pravin Joshi, who tried to immolate himself inside the toilet of a cinema hall, is said to be critical but stable. Abhishek Soni, senior doctor at Guru Govindsinh Hospital, says Joshi is conscious and able to talk.

BJP workers are staging a sit-in at Jamnagar's Lal Bungalow chowk today. BJP state youth wing secretary Umang Pandya says, "We will take a rally to Amber cinema and burn an effigy of the Congress. Vimal Madam is screening the film with the backing of Congress MP Vikram Madam."
