With pressure growing from all quarters including mental health experts, it is reliably learnt that Producers Ekta Kapoor and Shailesh Singh will change the title of their forthcoming film Mental Hai Kya.
"They thought the controversy would die down and they could release the film with the same title (Mental Hai Kya). But far from dying down, the controversy surrounding the title is growing," a source tells Subhash K Jha.
"They either change or face the consequences," says the source.
Deepika Padukone, whose Live Love Laugh foundation is dedicated to creating awareness on mental health issues, has also criticised the film's title.
Neither Kangana Ranaut nor Rajkummar Rao, who play the leads in Mental Hai Kya, have publicly voiced their opinions on the controversial title.
Changing the title "means heavy losses," adds the source, "as the title has to be changed on all the posters, hoardings and other publicity, but it has to be done."
