Imran Khan's last couple of films like Karan Johar's production Gori Tere Pyaar Mein and Vishal Bhardwaj’s Matru Ki Bijli Ka Mandola failed at the box office.

Films that were on the verge of going on the floors with the actor -- like Vikramaditya Motwane's Bhavesh Joshi -- were dropped.

But just when Imran’s career was going through a bad patch, producer Ekta Kapoor and director Tigmanshu Dhulia came forward to offer him Milan Talkies.

"Every actor goes through ups and downs and it would be downright myopic to say a few failures have wiped out Imran’s career," says Dhulia. "He is very talented actor. I am sure Milan Talkies will bring him back into the reckoning in a big way."

The film has been in the pipeline for a while, and deals with film piracy. It was to be originally made with Prateik Babbar in the lead, and then passed on to Saif Ali Khan. According to rumours, it had also been offered to Varun Dhawan.

Incidentally, one of Imran's most recent flops was Ekta Kapoor's Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaara.

Will Ekta be able to salvage Imran's career? Let's wait and watch.
