After the crowd-funded Lucia, C10H14N2 is the title of his next film.
This, by the way, is the molecular formula of nicotine.
Kumar posted the first poster with the title on Facebook for feedback.
“I wanted people to think, so I just posted the title and waited for their response,” he smiled.
He has also enticed social media users with a contest. Those shortlisted will get to listen to the script of C10H14N2 and discuss it with the director.
In an industry where the director is tight lipped about his script and discusses it only with his assistants, this is a novel idea.
“Script discussion and bouncing off ideas with the same group of people has its limitations. It can be stagnating,” Pawan said.
Asked if C10H14N2 is the second part of a trilogy that he is planning, he said he was indeed thinking on those lines. “And, I don’t do any of those intoxicants,” he laughed.
“I worked on the core idea of C10H14N2 when I was assisting Yograj Bhat in Pancharangi. With time and experience, I think it has got better. I may be working with the same crew as Lucia as we are comfortable working together,” he said.
Pawan Kumar is charting his own path in the conservative Kannada film industry. He has managed to find many takers for his ideas and style of filmmaking.
He was to start work on Lucia 2, but has set it aside for the time being. He was also working on a short romantic feature in Hindi for Zee TV, targeted at film festivals.
When asked about the Hindi remake of Lucia, he said that Fox Star is waiting to gauge the response of its Tamil remake, Enakkul Oruvan, by C V Kumar, with Siddharth Narayan, that is likely to release in December.
“They have gone a little commercial in Tamil,” Pawan added.
