Thespian Dilip Kumar has been admitted to a hospital in Mumbai's suburban Bandra after testing positive for malaria and his condition is stable, doctors attending on him said on Monday.

"Dilip Kumar was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Lilavati Hospital on Sunday and was diagnosed to be suffering from malaria," Dr Jalil Parker, who is treating him at the hospital, told PTI.

"His condition is stable and he is on the road to recovery. He will be discharged within 2-3 days," Hospital Director Dr Narendra Trivedi said.

The 87-year-old actor was suffering from high fever since Saturday and the family decided to get him admitted to facilitate proper investigation. The actor was last year admitted to the Apollo Hospital in Delhi due to complications resulting from a urinary tract infection.
