The latest updates from Bollywood.

Though he has decided to keep his conversations "shorter" post the controversy surrounding his latest 'feeling like a raped woman' remark, Salman Khan just can't resist being sarcastic.

The International Indian Film Academy Awards 2016 press conference in Madrid on June 23 was no different.

During the conference, which also saw the trailer launch of Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Mirzya, the 50-year-old actor referred to Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone as "Hollywood returned".

The Dabangg actor, who had missed the trailer of Harshvardhan Kapoor's debut film, asked for a replay and went to sit. When he saw the other celebs, including Shahid Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar, Deepika Padukone, Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, Sonakshi Sinha and Tiger Shroff, still on the stage, he asked them to sit as well.

Everyone but the Bajirao Mastani actresses complied. The two were busy conversing on the stage, at which the Sultan actor said, "These two ladies have now gone abroad, doing Hollywood movies. They don't have anything to do with Indian cinema now."

Earlier Salman, when asked to comment on the IFFA awards at the same conference, had said, "Knowing me, the shorter I keep it, the better!"

Rumour has it that Salman has been annoyed with Deepika after she refused Kick and Sultan. Salman and Priyanka too share a  similar past; she never got to work with Salman after turning down a role opposite him.

But it looks like this year's IIFA ceremony will bring Salman and Deepika closer. A photograph from yesterday's press conference shows the 50-year-old actor sitting with the Piku actress and the two seemed comfortable with each other.

Vicky Kaushal to play Deepika's husband?

After the success of Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela and Bajirao Mastani, the buzz is that Sanjay Leela Bhansali has roped in Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh for yet another period love story that is set to go on the floors this September.

The 30-year-old actress, during a recent media interaction in Spain, said she will begin shooting for her next film in September. However, she did not reveal the name of the film.

On the other hand, Filmfare confirmed that Bhansali is going to begin filming his next movie, Padmavati, in September and he is aiming to wrap it up within six months.

Speculation is rife that both are talking about the same movie.

Reportedly, the Devdas filmmaker has signed Ranveer Singh to play Allauddin Khilji and Deepika Padukone to play Rani Padmavati. Vicky Kaushal, of Masaan fame, is believed to have been finalised to play Deepika's husband in this love story.

The film is supposedly based on the tyrant emperor Alauddin Khilji's obsession for Padmavati, the queen of Chittor.

Bhansali had earlier directed an opera of the same name and theme, which was widely appreciated in Paris.

Prakash Kapadia, who scripted Bajirao Mastani, has reportedly been roped in to write Padmavati.
