Demand in LS for Bharat Ratna to Mohd Rafi
Source: PTI August 19, 2011 13:33 IST
A strong plea for conferring Bharat Ratna posthumously on Mohd Rafi, setting up a commission for deciding on persons living below the poverty line and the issue of FDI in retail were among several matters raised in
the Lok Sabha today.
The Zero Hour saw Shailendra Kumar (SP) pleading for a Bharat Ratna for singer Mohd Rafi noting that the innumerable
songs sung by him have become immortal and the highest civilian award would be the appropriate honour for him. He was
supported by several party colleagues as also JD-U members.
