After the success of Neelathamara and Rathinirvedam, Malayalam filmmakers are frantically searching for old movies that can be remade. There is talk that films like Avalude Raavukal, Ena, Nidra and Thampuratti could be remade in a modern avatar.

A new version of Chattakkaari, the trendsetter directed by K S Sethumadhavan in 1974, and then made in Hindi as Julie, is reportedly the next venture from producer Suresh Kumar's banner Revathy Kalamandir (which, incidentally, produced both Neelathamara and Rathinirvedam).

The
film will be directed by Santhosh Sethumadhavan, K S Sethumadhavan's son.

The lead role in both the original Chattakkari and the remake Julie was done to perfection by Lakshmi. The buzz is that Nithya Menen will be playing the role immortalised by Lakshmi. The official announcement is awaited.
