Smith, 24, claimed that the couple had never really got married, so the question of divorce simply did not arise.
In a recent interview, Smith said they had only pretended to be married so that Brandy's image would not get tarnished when she got pregnant with Sy'rai, who is now two years old.
Apparently, it was Brandy's mother and manager Sonja Norwood's idea to fake a marriage.
Meanwhile, Brandy, 25, released a statement that she was 'hurt and shocked' by his revelations, according to People. She claimed that 'instead of a legally recognised marriage', they 'had a spiritual union and a true commitment to each other'.
